Spring Classic – Race Director

Each spring the Pavers do a fantastic job hosting the first road racing event in Saskatchewan.  Racers from across Saskatchewan and some from Alberta and Manitoba are one the start line.  This years event needs a volunteer race director to coordinate and plan the event.  Larry G. has been doing this for the last few years and will be able to assist.  I will also be a resource to set up the registration and look after the paperwork end of the event.  In addition to the glory of being the race director you will also receive and honorarium and since being a race director also demonstrates being a great volunteer you receive extra entries for the volunteer appreciation bike draw at the AGM.

The 2017 edition of the Spring Classic is May 6 -7 and it would be great to have a race director in place as soon as possible.  Please contact me directly.

Weekend Rides

Last weekend we had some new riders join us and some that hadn’t been out for a while which is always nice to see. The Giro d’Moose Jaw is well underway and we have 17 members signed up already, if you haven’t signed up yet you still have lots of time, just e-mail large.jim@sasktel.net. For Sat and Sun, let’s meet at Java Express at 09:30, leaving for the ride at 10:00. We’ll be doing some stages of the Giro, to be determined the morning of the ride depending on the prevailing winds. The weekends are a great opportunity to do some of the longer stages.

Giro d’Moose Jaw Update

The 2013 Giro is underway, and we’ve had beautiful weather for it so far. There are nine registered riders so far, and between them they have completed 22 total stages. Jim Large and Terry Martyniuk are closest to achieving 21, with 5 rides each.

Check out the full chart below, and stay tuned for updates every week!

Giro Chart 5/16/13

The 2013 Giro d’Moose Jaw Begins!

The 2013 Giro d’Moosejaw is underway, 10 riders completed the Prologue tonight, a 25.3 km ride from Java Express to the Sukanan ship intersection.

The Giro has been posted on the Pavers Web page for a while now but here it is…

The registration cost is $10.00 payable to Mr Jim Large, that money can be dropped off at Red Goat Training center or at Boh’s Cycle, Cash only please.

You must me a member of the MJ Pavers, and therefore https://moosejawpavers.ca/giro-dmoose-jaw/ must be a member of the Sask Cycling Assoc.  Due to insurance changes you will only be allowed one ‘guest’ ride, if non members ride with the group they can void the personal and liability insurance for the entire group, so the leadership must be quite diligent about this.

If you missed tonights prologue do not worry, while the real Giro d’Italia finished stage 3 today, we have the entire summer to do our 21 stages and there will be lots of time to repeat the stages.

PS: Our stage was 25 km long, stage 3 in the real Giro was 222 km long.

If you have any questions about the Giro please ask any of the executive.
