TNR 2018-12

Tuesday Night Ride

March 20, 2018

6:15 pm Start Time

Leaving from DQ on Caribou St W between 4th and 5th Avenue.

Welcome to Spring!

Typically in Moose Jaw the first day of Spring is a mess, and today is no exception.

Tonight’s ride will do its best to avoid the largest puddles and mud holes, but water-resistant clothing is still recommended.

A 90-minute ride is to be expected.

See you at DQ,

Bob

Road Commissaire – Training (Regina)

The Saskatchewan Cycling Association is looking for new officials (commissaire). As a commissaire your role is to ensure that all aspects of the competition you are supervising is conducted following the UCI, Cycling Canada and SCA Regulations. The classroom portion of the training is planned to April 8, 2018 and the practical portion will occur at the Spring Classic (May 5/6, 2018).

From a club perspective it would be awesome to have local commissaires. With travel and accommodation for commissaires this is simply one of the greatest expenses we face when hosting sanctioned races. The Moose Jaw Pavers will pay the registration cost for members and local individuals wanting to take the training and be an official at our races.

For more information contact Rob directly using the form below.

An excellent day for a bike ride.

Mild temperature and a unpredictable surface to ride on.

Expect snow, ice, puddles and even bare and dry patches of ground, Spring is sooooo close!

Note that today means 21% of TNR rides for 2018 are already over. When are you gonna get yours?

See you at DQ,

Bob

Tuesday Night Ride

March 6, 2018

6:15 pm Start Time

Leaving from DQ on Caribou St W between 4th and 5th Avenue.

Snow Day!

A successful ride requires an adequate surface to ride on.

We don’t have that, instead on the streets we have "the brown stuff" and on the paths we have……paths ? what paths? all I see is white stuff.

In the good ole days, when garbage existed in the back lanes, the City would clear a path for the trucks so they wouldn’t get stuck, it made for a perfect groomed trail to ride on. Those days are gone.

So instead of riding your bike, go out and do something cool with that big mound of snow in your backyard.

We will resume TNR next week.

Tuesday Night Ride

February 27, 2018

6:15 pm Start Time

Leaving from DQ on Caribou St W between 4th and 5th Avenue.

The Sun has been working its magic.

The results are as follows:

1. Only half the ride will be dark, sunset happens during TNR.

2. Less snow to ride on.

3. "tacky" snow provides more grip on occasion.

4. "black ice" is appearing where snow once existed.

5. "icy" patches provide less grip on occasion.

6. Excellent photo opportunities at sunset, with beautiful vistas.

7. Less layers of clothing are required, which means less laundry.

8. sun = fun

9. only 1 out of the last 8 rides was not a solo ride, you won’t feel out of place with a bunch of "regulars"

10. increase your "cred" by joining a select group of people that have attended a Winter TNR.

Ride will be approximately 90 minutes.

See you at DQ,

Bob
