The executive of the Moose Jaw Pavers have been working hard this winter to plan an exciting 2017 cycling season. Registration is now open HERE.
2017 promises to be an exciting year for the Moose Jaw Pavers! What is so exciting for this year? Well, in addition to all the regular group rides we are excited to announce the following:
- Volunteer Incentive and Recognition – as a volunteer based group, the success of our events and cycling activities is the result of great contribution from the members. This year the club executive is excited to announce that with the awesome support and generosity from Dane at Western Cycle, all members who volunteer at our events will be entered into draw for a new bike. The details of the bike will be announced early this summer and the raffle structure will be announced at a later time and the draw will occur at the AGM. We can tell you that the more you help the more entries you will receive. In addition, members who serve larger roles such a race director will also receive a honorarium in appreciation of their contribution to the club.
- Saskatchewan Cycling Event Participation Incentive – that’s right folks, get paid to participate in cycling events organized by other SCA clubs. For our events to be successful we rely on the other clubs coming out and participating. They in turn rely on us to come out and support their events. Eligible events are any in province SCA sanctioned club events such as fondos, gravel grinders and regular road/mtb races. Our hope is that this will encourage our members to try new and different events along with some of their favorites. Personally, I tried a gravel grinder last summer and it was an absolute blast. Each member is eligible for a total amount of $50 per year with a maximum of $25 per SCA club sanctioned event. Receipts will need to be submitted prior to the fall AGM and the member will be reimbursed at the AGM and the member must be in attendance.
- Winter training – with spring here before we know it, now is a great time to start training if you are not doing something already or get out and ride with others. Starting on February 09, 2017, there is an opportunity to schedule a weekly club ride at The ATTIC spin studio. If there is sufficient riders interest this will be a weekly ride. Details are on the webpage but the Pavers will pay for the first night of riding for 2017 members. The cost for non-members will be $10 per ride and a minimum of 10 riders is needed. Let Matt know before February 7 to reserve your spot!
- Exclusive Club member only activities – including a spring group ride and social (May), fall enduro (September) and fall century ride. New this year will be a spring enduro is also being planned for May.
The SCA event calendar has been released and the Moose Jaw Pavers will be hosting the Spring Classic May 6 & 7, 2017 and a mountain bike race at Buffalo Pound on August 20, 2017.
