Starting from DQ on Caribou St between 4th & 5th Avenue NW
6:15 start
Yet another beautiful evening for a ride.
Sun drops 10 minutes after the ride starts and it will be dark before 7:00pm.
You need lights.
Lights (to be seen by cars!) are inexpensive and work well, Your local bike shop can supply you with what you need.
Lights (to see with) are generally not cheap, but perform really well. With the right light you can travel as quickly as in the daylight.
Ideally, you need a light on top of your head. This will be your brightest light.
In addition, a light on your handlebars and a tail-light to be seen by cars is important.
Light output is measured in LUMENS, the bigger the number, the brighter the light.
Also, light is cumulative, you can buy 2 lower-power lights and aim their beams together to double the brightness.
To learn more about lights; try googling “bike light forum” or “candle power forum”.
Those of you brave enough to shop internationally can try TMART.com or DX.com for cheap deals on lights.
Sunset is 6:25
Civil Twilight is 6:57
Nautical Twilight is 7:35
See you on the trails,
